TIPS FOR SUCCESS: Faculty Mentoring Lunchtime Series

This lunch series features distinguished faculty mentors in an informal session about mentorship, career advancement and satisfaction at UCSF.

Light lunch will be provided.

All faculty are welcome to attend. Registration is encouraged and will reserve you a lunch, but drop ins are welcome.

Margot Kushel, MD

In this session, Dr. Kushel will share her own rich experiences as a research and career mentor at UCSF for trainees, fellows and junior faculty. She will share her reflections on how to integrate r commitment to health equity with success as a scholar, mentor and advocate.  
Some of the topics she will address include:

  • How to create and cultivate your research mentoring team
  • Tips for effective health advocacy
  • Build a successful and satisfying career focused on health equity

Margot Kushel, MD is Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG) and the Director of the UCSF Center for Vulnerable Populations. A practicing general internist, Margot's research focuses on reducing the burden of homelessness on health through examining efforts to prevent and end homelessness and mitigating the effects of housing instability on health care outcomes. Passionate about training the next generation of researchers, she directs the UCSF Primary Care Research Fellowship. Margot has won the CTSI year-long mentor award (for medical students) and is the 2018 recipient of the Hal Luft Mentoring Award in Health Services and Health Policy.  She believes that good mentorship involves showing up, building trust, and giving honest feedback, and that the best mentorship involves sponsorship as well as mentorship.
